Place the iPad beside the camera and choose a text size you can read from where you will speak.

Choose a comfortable scroll speed, then tap the timer and set a short Countdown so you have time to face the lens.

Read the opening once from your actual position and slow the script if you find yourself rushing.

Questions about CueCard for iPad
Is there a teleprompter app for iPad?
Yes. CueCard Teleprompter runs natively on iPad and is free on the App Store. It needs iPadOS 17 or later.
Can the iPad prompter float over other apps?
Yes. The script can fill the screen for reading at a distance, or shrink into a floating window that stays above the camera, Instagram, TikTok or a video call while you record.
Can I use an iPad as a teleprompter for a camera?
Yes. Prop the iPad under or beside the lens, set the text large and the speed slow, and read at your natural pace. The bigger screen is what makes an iPad worth using over a phone for this.
Will the script appear in my video?
Camera recording captures the image through the lens, so the floating script is not part of that footage. Phone screen recording or a screen broadcast can capture the window. Record a short camera test and review it before posting.
Can I save scripts and come back to them?
Yes. Tap Unsaved below the top bar or choose ••• › Save to name and save a script or deck. Choose ••• › Open to see Saved Notes, search by title or text, and swipe a note to rename or delete it.
Can I restore an older version of a script or deck?
Yes, on iPhone and iPad. Saving changed text adds a version. Once a note has more than one version, tap the clock at the top of the editor to compare changes and restore an earlier version. Restoring adds a new version, so the history stays available.
Do I need an account to use CueCard?
No. There is nothing to sign up for on either app, and your scripts and settings live on your device. The one exception is Google Slides sync on the desktop app, which asks you to sign in with Google so it can read the notes out of your deck. See the privacy policy for the details.
Is CueCard free?
Yes. CueCard is completely free on mobile and on desktop, and open source. Read the code on GitHub — and a star is always welcome.
