How to set up CueCard on iPhone
Pick a mode, write, set a timer, and go: the same few steps for filming and for speaking.

Choose Teleprompter or Cards
Tap the mode name at the top left of the editor. Teleprompter scrolls a whole script; Cards shows it one card at a time. Each keeps its own script and settings.

Write, then save
Type or paste your script, or tap Create New Card for each card of a deck. Type [ or tap Add Cue for reminders, and choose Save in the ••• menu.

Set the timer
Tap the timer beside the play button. Set a Duration and a Warn in Last time, and for the teleprompter a Countdown before it starts to scroll.

Press play, or Read Cards
In Teleprompter, the green play button opens the script full screen; tap Start Overlay or leave CueCard to float it over your camera app. In Cards, Read Cards opens the deck to swipe through.

Take it to the Lock Screen or your watch
Turn on Show on Lock Screen in Cards Settings to turn cards with the phone locked. With the Apple Watch app installed, the teleprompter's controls and your cards are on your wrist too.

Rehearse and adjust
Run it once out loud. Slow the Scroll Speed if you rush, shorten any card you have to squint at, and move the floating window closer to the lens.

Questions about CueCard Teleprompter
What can the CueCard app do?
Two things. The teleprompter scrolls your whole script at the speed you set, full screen or in a floating window over the app you film in. Cards shows your talk one card at a time, in the app, on the Lock Screen or on your Apple Watch. Switch between them from the mode name at the top of the editor.
Is CueCard available for iPhone and Android?
The iPhone and iPad app is out now on the App Store, and it is free. The Android app is still being built.
Will the script appear in my video?
Camera recording captures the image through the lens, so the floating script is not part of that footage. Phone screen recording or a screen broadcast can capture the window. Record a short camera test and review it before posting.
Can I read cue cards on my Lock Screen?
Yes. In Cards mode, open Settings and turn on Show on Lock Screen. The card you are on, the timer and Back and Next then sit on the Lock Screen while the deck is open.
Is there an Apple Watch app?
Yes, and it comes with the iPhone app. It plays and pauses the teleprompter and shows your cue cards on your wrist, in step with the iPhone. See CueCard on Apple Watch.
Can I save scripts and come back to them?
Yes. Tap Unsaved below the top bar or choose ••• › Save to name and save a script or deck. Choose ••• › Open to see Saved Notes, search by title or text, and swipe a note to rename or delete it.
Can I restore an older version of a script or deck?
Yes, on iPhone and iPad. Saving changed text adds a version. Once a note has more than one version, tap the clock at the top of the editor to compare changes and restore an earlier version. Restoring adds a new version, so the history stays available.
Do I need an account to use CueCard?
No. There is nothing to sign up for on either app, and your scripts and settings live on your device. The one exception is Google Slides sync on the desktop app, which asks you to sign in with Google so it can read the notes out of your deck. See the privacy policy for the details.
Is CueCard free?
Yes. CueCard is completely free on mobile and on desktop, and open source. Read the code on GitHub — and a star is always welcome.
