CueCard is built around a simpler idea: your words are yours. It is private, secure, ad-free, free to use and open source. There is no account to create, no paid tier to unlock and no advertising competing for your attention. The interface is calm and beautiful, because the tool beside the camera should help you focus—not become one more distraction.
Your scripts stay private
A script can contain an unreleased announcement, a sales pitch, an interview answer, a lesson plan or a personal story. CueCard stores your scripts on your device.
The result is simple:
- No login is required. Open the app, write or paste your script and start prompting.
- Your words stay on your device. Your script title and text are stored locally.
- Your device protects the local copy. CueCard relies on the security features of iOS, Android, macOS and Windows, so a passcode, disk encryption and sensible backup settings still matter.
The desktop app can optionally read speaker notes from Google Slides. That feature uses Google sign-in and requests read-only presentation access; normal CueCard use does not require it. If you prefer, paste your notes directly into CueCard and skip Google entirely.
No ads means no interruptions
Ads are especially awkward in a teleprompter. A moving banner competes with the words you are trying to read. A full-screen ad can break the rhythm between takes. Advertising software can also introduce another company and another data flow into a tool trusted with sensitive material.
CueCard has no ads and no advertising SDK. There is no banner beside your script, no sponsored screen before recording and no advertiser trying to measure your attention. The space on screen belongs to your words.
That is better for privacy, but it is also better design. When you are presenting, filming or going live, the teleprompter should disappear into the job.
Free means free
CueCard is not a short trial for a subscription. There is no paid tier, recurring bill, watermark or feature gate waiting after you have written your script.
You can use the teleprompter without creating an account or entering payment details. The useful features are part of the app: saved scripts, adjustable scrolling, timing tools, coloured cues and floating prompting on supported devices.
Free software sometimes pays for itself by filling the screen with ads. CueCard does neither. It is simply free to use.
Open source makes the promise inspectable
Privacy language is easy to write. Open-source software lets people inspect the implementation behind it.
CueCard's mobile app, desktop app and browser extension are available in the public GitHub repository under the MIT licence. Developers can review how scripts are stored and how the app works. They can report a problem, suggest an improvement or build their own copy.
Open source does not make any app magically perfect. It makes CueCard's promises testable—and gives the community a way to hold the project accountable.
Simple, clear privacy
CueCard uses basic product analytics to understand which features are useful, and the mobile apps use crash diagnostics to find and fix problems. These reports can include feature use, platform details and a random app identifier. They do not include your scripts.

Beautiful is part of the job
Many teleprompters feel like utility panels assembled around an advertising slot or an upgrade button. CueCard is designed to feel different: strong typography, clear colour cues, generous spacing and controls that stay out of the way.
